Funding boost of £30m for heat network plans

The first round of financial allocations from the government’s £288 million Green Heat Network Fund (GHNF) were made public today, with more than £27 million going to two significant projects in Hull and Peterborough. The announcement was made on the same day as a different project in Wigan received financing from the government’s earlier £320 million Heat Networks Investment Project (HNIP), becoming one of the final projects to do so after receiving £2.6 million.

The funding will be used to:

  • Produce heat and electricity for local residences and businesses.
  • Lower carbon emissions by about 2,000 tonnes annually.
