Vulnerable communities face historic deluge and drought in the US

The ongoing water crisis affecting vulnerable communities in the US needs to be tackled by a global approach. These communities face historic deluge and drought. Such issues will be in the spotlight at the forthcoming UN-supported World Water Week. Efforts are being made by the US Government to help climate-affected communities, including granting $25 million each to three affected indigenous communities.

Some of the climate-induced phenomenon affecting communities include:

  • Sea level rise from melting glaciers
  • Changing rainfall pattern
  • Longer dry spells
  • More fire incidents
