British National Highways’ environmentally friendly initiatives

The government-owned British National Highways has started the process of decarbonizing England’s highways and A-roads, with the goal of reaching net-zero emissions by 2050. In order to ensure that, they will provide significant benefits to motorists, communities, and businesses in the future. The strategy is to achieve this vision by making three essential commitments:

  1. Achieving net-zero operations by 2030
  2. Providing net-zero road maintenance and construction by 2040
  3. Enabling net-zero carbon traffic on the roads by 2050
