Berlin climate talks – Climate aid, war, and more

Officials from 40 nations gathered in Berlin to discuss maintaining focus while the world deals with the economic effects of the pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine war. In addition, Secretary-General of the United Nations has urged nations to act before we pass the global warming limit of 1.5 Celsius.

Before the November United Nations climate summit in Egypt, organizers saw this meeting as a chance to restore confidence between wealthy and developing countries. But unfortunately, technical meetings last month made little headway on important issues like climate aid for developing countries.

The topics discussed include:

  • European nations vowing to fulfill their climate goals despite the ongoing war in Ukraine
  • Developing countries still waiting for the $100 billion climate aid from wealthy nations
