Hydrogen is expected to debut as a clean-burning fuel on a pilot bus by the year-end in Hong Kong. Hydrogen fuel cell and battery-powered electric buses and vehicles form a key part of a plan to electrify transport, and it is a key plank of Hong Kong’s decarbonisation strategy. The city has set a target to become carbon neutral by 2050.

- Supply chain challenges such as storage and transport of hydrogen
- The absence of commercial hydrogen production facility in Hong Kong
