California sues oil companies, seeks storm damage compensation

California has filed a lawsuit against few of the world’s largest oil and gas companies. It claims that these companies deceived the public about the risks of fossil fuels now faulted for climate change-related wildfires and storms. These natural disasters have caused billions of dollars in damage in the state. The objective of the civil lawsuit is to create a fund that will be financed by oil companies and will pay for recovery efforts following devastating storms and fires.
